Lesson Review: June 8, 2020

Today, we talked about our weekend and asked each other questions.

Here are your very interesting questions and answers:

Christine:  What did you do this weekend?

My family and I stayed home most of the weekend.  My mother, sister, and I went shopping at Fred Meyer. I also learned how to draw a fish.

To draw:  to make a picture using a pencil

Marisol:  What was your favorite activity this weekend?

Maria: I like to cook because my son, daughter, and grandchildren come to visit me.

Shaheen: My brother, mom, and sister and children came for a visit to my home.

Shaheen:  What is your favorite food?

Marisol:  My favorite dish is Chow Mein.

Marisol:  What is your favorite colour/color?

Christine:  Turquoise green

Christine:  How many hours do you study English?

Gaspar: I usually study four hours a week. 

How will learning more English improve your life?

Shaheen:  English will help me with to meet more people and get a job.

Marisol:  English will help me to buy in the store.

Gaspar:  English will help me to not be afraid to speak with people and express myself.

Lesson 10 -Visiting Hours

Elsa's friend is in the hospital.
Elsa wants to visit her.
She sees a sign on the wall:  Visiting Hours: 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM
It is 8:00 PM now.

Elsa waits at the reception desk.
She finds out her friend is in Room 579.
Elsa waits for the elevator.
The elevator doesn't open.
Then she sees another sign: Out of Order.

Elsa takes the stairs to the fifth floor.
There are many rooms.
Finally she sees Room 579.
"Sorry," says the nurse.
"Visiting hours are over.  You can come back tomorrow at 10:00 AM."


Homework - Read the story again and answer the questions

Ralph Goes to the Clinic

Ralph is sick. He has a bad headache. He can’t sleep at night. He goes to the clinic to see his doctor. 

The name of his clinic is Blaine Medical Center. Ralph opens the door. The receptionist is busy. She is on the phone. Ralph waits. 

“I can help you now,” says the receptionist. 

“My name is Ralph White,” he says. 

“Are you a new patient?” she asks. “No, I have been here before,” he says. Ralph waits in the waiting room. 

Finally, he goes to see the doctor. A nurse asks him questions and takes his blood pressure.

The doctor comes into the room. The doctor asks more questions. The doctor looks at a graph of Ralph’s blood pressure. 

“You have high blood pressure. You need to take medicine every day,” the doctor says. The doctor gives Ralph a prescription for some blood pressure medicine. 

Ralph walks down the hall to the pharmacy. He gives the prescription to the pharmacist. He waits again. The pharmacist calls his name and gives him the medicine. 

“Take one tablet in the morning and take one tablet at night before bed,” the pharmacist says. 

“Two tablets a day?” Ralph asks. 

“Yes, two tablets a day. One in the morning and one at night.”
